JAKARTA, March 30 (Bernama) -- Indonesia’s government-linked energy firm, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), is targeting completion of its offshore Manpatu platform in East Kalimantan by early Q3 2026, with first gas expected in Q1 2027.
PHM General Manager Setyo Sapto Edi said the facility is designed to process up to 80 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
“The development of the Manpatu exploration well discovery in the South Mahakam offshore field is ongoing,” he said, according to ANTARA News Agency on Monday.
Setyo said the project is located about 35 kilometres offshore from Balikpapan, in waters with depths of 50 to 60 metres.
The development includes construction of a topside weighing around 2,400 tonnes, installation of approximately 2.5 kilometres of subsea pipelines, and drilling of 11 development wells.
He said the Manpatu project has recorded progress in the use of local components, including the use of fully domestically manufactured production pipes for the first time in the Mahakam area.
The project has also achieved more than two million working hours without a lost-time incident (LTI) as of March 2026.
“The Manpatu project is being executed under a fast-track scheme following the gas discovery in 2022, with the facility targeted to come on stream in the first quarter of 2027,” he said.
