Malaysia To Host Global Ulama Conference This June - Zulkifli

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is strengthening its role as a centre for Islamic thought and cooperation, as it prepares to host an international conference bringing together religious scholars and leaders from around the world this June.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the conference at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is a strategic collaboration between the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Muslim World League (MWL).

In a Facebook post, Zulkifli said the agreement followed talks held during his working visit to Makkah, Jeddah and Riyadh, at the invitation of MWL secretary-general Sheikh Dr Mohammed Abdulkarim Al-Issa.

He said the talks with the influential Muslim leader went beyond formalities, focusing on exchanging ideas, finding solutions, and shaping Islam’s future at the regional and global levels.

“This journey is not just about distance, but a mission to unite the ummah and foster brotherhood and global cooperation between the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) and the organisation,” read the post.

Zulkifli said Muslims should seize the opportunity to build a knowledgeable society, strengthen unity and help shape the ummah’s future.

“From here we start, and we must do our utmost to carry out Islah (reform). The world is watching, and the future of Islam is in our hands,” he said.

Zulkifli added that Mohammed Abdulkarim praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a distinguished intellectual and leading Islamic thinker.
