KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 (Bernama) -- Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia on Thursday marked its Independence and National Day 2026 celebration, with its expatriate community reaffirming their unity and patriotism for the country.
The High Commission in a statement said the celebration was attended by officials from the mission and Bangladeshis living in Malaysia from various professions.
The celebration started with hoisting of the national flag followed by observing a one-minute silence in memory of the martyrs of the Great Liberation War and a special prayers for the martyrs.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia, Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury said the sacrifices of the nation’s brave martyrs in achieving independence will remain forever etched in its history and becomes an inspiration for future generations.
Messages from President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obayed Islam were read out during the celebration.
A discussion was also held, in which distinguished members and leaders of the Bangladeshi expatriate community spoke about the significance of the day and the importance of national unity.
