JAKARTA, March 8 (Bernama-dpa) — Flash floods struck the Indonesian resort island of Bali, leaving two people dead and two others missing, reported German Press Agency (dpa), citing authorities on Sunday.
The floods began late Friday in the Buleleng district after heavy rain lashed the area, according to the National Disaster Management Agency. Strong currents swept away eight residents. Two were later found dead on Saturday and two others remain missing, the agency said.
Search and rescue operations are continuing for the missing residents.
The country's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned that Bali could experience moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds over the next two days.
The conditions could increase the risk of floods and landslides, particularly in hilly areas and river basins, it said.
