SUNGAI BULOH, March 7 (Bernama) -- The public, especially youth, are urged to be more proactive in disseminating information related to skill training and job opportunities so that more people can benefit from the initiatives provided by the government and various parties.

Human Resources (KESUMA) Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said that many young people, including students and graduates, still do not take the opportunity to promote training programmes or skill development initiatives offered.

"We have many initiatives and programmes, for example, today Yayasan Mahir provides various Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes,” he said.

He spoke to reporters after attending the Food Basket Donation and Bubur Lambuk Distribution Programme, held in collaboration with the Department of Skills Development (JPK), here today. The event was also attended by KESUMA deputy secretary-general Sutekno Ahmad Belon and Yayasan Mahir Malaysia chairman Datuk Seri Ganes Palaniapan.

Ramanan, who is also the Member of Parliament for Sungai Buloh, said members of the public who attend such programmes are expected to help disseminate information to the local community so that more people are aware of the training opportunities provided.

For example, he said a free artificial intelligence (AI) training programme, involving around 700 participants, was organised in Sungai Buloh in collaboration with TalentCorp, even though similar modules abroad can cost up to RM5,000.

Earlier, Ramanan distributed 100 food baskets and bubur lambuk to the residents, especially the B40 group and families facing financial constraints.

The programme was also followed by a visit to a Ramadan bazaar to distribute 1,000 bowls of bubur lambuk and duit raya to children in the area.
