Jelajah Ramadan Unites Communities, Strengthens RTM-Public Ties - Fahmi

JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- The Jelajah Ramadan 2026 programme continues to serve as a platform to unite communities while strengthening the bond between the Department of Broadcasting Malaysia (RTM) and the public throughout the holy month.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said Jelajah Ramadan is one of the flagship initiatives of RTM’s Radio Programme Division and has been implemented consistently since 2012.

“Over the years, this programme has evolved beyond an annual activity into a symbol of RTM’s enduring commitment as the national broadcaster in engaging directly with the community,” he said when launching the 14th edition of Jelajah Ramadan 2026 here today.

Also present were Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah and  RTM director-general Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman.

Fahmi said the programme made history when it was recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the Longest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme in Malaysia, following the implementation of 38 activities nationwide.

He said the recognition was not merely an achievement but proof that RTM’s role extends beyond delivering news and entertainment.

“As Communications Minister, I see this initiative as aligned with the aspirations of the MADANI government, which emphasises compassion, well-being and social sustainability.

Fahmi added that RTM serves as a bridge connecting the government and the people through policy dissemination and continuous engagement with the community.

In an increasingly fast-paced digital landscape, he said radio remains a medium close to the hearts of the people.

“The voices of announcers accompany drivers on the road, traders at markets, fishermen at sea and farmers in the fields,” he said, describing radio as a trusted companion in daily life.

With the strength of 34 RTM radio stations, he added that the voices transmitted are “not merely frequency waves, but waves of humanity and unity.”

Carrying the theme “Satu Suara, Satu Jiwa”, Jelajah Ramadan 2026 will run for 20 days starting today until March 8, involving 15 vehicles and about 40 crew members, including announcers and invited celebrities, travelling to 30 locations across the northern, southern, central and eastern zones, as well as Sabah and Sarawak.
