MOT To Improve Seremban-KL Train Schedules, Shorten Journey - Loke

SEREMBAN, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Transport (MOT) will improve KTM Komuter services, including reviewing and revising train schedules between Seremban and Kuala Lumpur to reduce waiting times and shorten journeys.

Minister Anthony Loke said further discussions will take place after the Chinese New Year (CNY) to finalise and implement these measures, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable commute.

“Travel from Seremban to Kuala Lumpur experiences delays. Many commuters report journeys taking one hour 45 minutes, and sometimes up to two hours.

“The slowdowns are due to ongoing track upgrades along the route. Some sections are reduced to a single track, affecting train flow and schedule reliability,” he told reporters after distributing CNY gift packs to Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) passengers at Seremban Railway Station today.

Loke said the ongoing upgrades to Seremban Railway Station and the construction of the new station have also caused some inconvenience to passengers, and appealed for the public’s understanding.

“We are doing our best, but the new station is expected to take another year to complete. We hope it will provide greater comfort for Seremban commuters,” he said.

In a separate update, Loke, who is also the Seremban MP, said efforts are underway to explore ways to accelerate the Klang Valley Double Track Electrification Phase 2 (KVDT2) project, which is currently progressing on schedule.

“The project is inherently challenging because work must be carried out on active tracks. While work is done on one track, trains continue running on the other.

“Safety considerations limit the time machinery can be on the tracks each day, which naturally slows construction,” he explained.
