HKI 2026: NADI Booth Thrills Young Visitors, Bernama Offers Inside View Of News Coverage

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- The Safer Internet Day (HKI) 2026, held today at Astaka Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, offered both a platform for raising internet safety awareness and an interactive e-sports gaming experience at the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) e-Sports booth.

A Bernama check found the NADI booth buzzing with children and teens aged 8 to 18, who eagerly lined up to try sim racing, battle it out in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), and test their skills on the PlayStation 5 (PS5).

Raisha Arissa Mohd Ramzan, 12, said she was drawn to the sim racing game as it gave her the thrill of real driving, making her feel like she was behind the wheel.

“I love it because it feels just like real racing. Even without special equipment, controlling the steering wheel and gears makes it feel so real,” said the third of five siblings.

According to Raisha Arissa, her interest in the game was sparked unexpectedly after her older brother introduced her to it.

Muhammad Harith Nor Azman, 17, who opted for the MLBB game, said the prizes on offer motivated him and his friends to test their luck and put their team skills to the ultimate challenge.

“When I found out there were prizes, I felt even more challenged. Alhamdulillah, we’ve qualified for the playoffs and are now aiming for a top-four or top-three finish,” he said.

He said MLBB stood out from other games because it relies on teamwork to win, making the experience both more challenging and enjoyable.

“Unlike other games where you can play alone, MLBB requires teamwork. If you don’t work together, it’s hard to win,” he said.

At the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) booth, visitors had the unique opportunity to witness a live interview session broadcast from a mobile studio housed in a recreational vehicle brought to the park.

Bernama Mobile Studio Production coordinator Muhammad Syukri Khairulannuar said the setup allowed visitors to gain insight into how Bernama conducts interview sessions and news coverage.

“Outside the motorhome, a television display will broadcast the audio from inside, allowing visitors to follow the discussions clearly,” he said.

Themed “Smart Technology, Safe Choices: Safe and Responsible Use of AI”, HKI is organised by the Ministry of Communications and spearheaded by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to promote a safer digital environment, particularly for children.

HKI 2026 is held in conjunction with International Safer Internet Day, observed annually in more than 170 countries to promote safe, responsible and positive internet use, particularly among children and young people.
