Finas Organises Creative Workshop For PWD On Voice Acting, Radio Drama

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) is strengthening the country’s creative industry ecosystem with the organisation of a creative workshop for persons with disabilities (PWD), focusing on voice acting and radio drama.

In a statement, Finas said the Creative Workshop for PWD: Vocal and Basic Acting (Radio Drama), organised in collaboration with the Digital Artistic Heritage Arts Association of Malaysia, is the first programme of its kind aimed at developing PWD talent in these fields.

The initiative aligns with the agency’s efforts to expand access to training, nurture new talent and promote inclusivity within the creative industry.

“Finas views this initiative as a new approach to human capital development in the creative industry, particularly through voice acting and radio drama, which have the potential to create career opportunities for the PWD community,” the statement said.

The three-day workshop, beginning Feb 10, will focus on vocal techniques, breathing, intonation and articulation, providing exposure to radio drama, voice-over work, voice advertising and animation.

The closing ceremony and certificate presentation will be held on Feb 13 in conjunction with World Radio Day.

Finas said the workshop will be conducted by experienced instructors, including Datuk Fauziah Nawi as programme adviser, vocal coach Siti Hajar Ismail and actor Adam Shahz, Best New Actor winner at the 28th Malaysian Film Festival.

It added that Finas hopes to expand similar initiatives through collaboration with government and private television and radio stations to create more employment opportunities and professional involvement for the PWD community in the creative industry.
