ALOR SETAR, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has completed several development projects under the MADANI Adopted Village Programme (KAM) 2025 in Kampung Tok Kepak near Kodiang.

The official handover ceremony for the projects was officiated by KPKT secretary-general Datuk Dr M Noor Azman Taib at the Al-Huda Mosque compound yesterday.

M Noor Azman, a native of Kampung Tok Kepak, said the implementation of several key projects and facility upgrades was part of the government’s strategy to narrow the infrastructure gap between rural and urban areas by focusing on locations that genuinely require special attention in terms of basic amenities.

“The success of this development proves the government’s commitment to ensuring services reach the grassroots quickly, easily and effectively.

“I hope all the facilities provided will be well maintained and fully utilised so that they can benefit villagers in the long term and be enjoyed by future generations,” he said in a statement today.

He said the selection of Kampung Tok Kepak was based on the KAM 2025 Implementation Guidelines, given its status as a marginalised rural area in need of infrastructure such as roads, a hall and street lighting.

“With the completion of high-impact projects funded through an allocation of RM1 million approved by the Ministry of Finance, various infrastructure and social projects have been successfully implemented for the benefit of about 300 local residents.

“Among the main projects fully completed were the upgrading of the Tabika KEMAS preschool, upgrading of the mosque tower and kitchen, upgrading of the surau and Tabika Islam, as well as the installation of air-conditioning and fittings at the Tabika KEMAS, Community Hall and Balai Raya,” he said.

He added that other improvement works were also carried out, including the installation of solar-powered street lights, construction of a public plaza in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tok Kepak, landscaping works at SK Tok Kepak and Kampung Tok Kepak Mosque, upgrading of the KEMAS preschool playground, as well as the Home Repair Programme and the Urban New Home Construction Programme.

In conjunction with the project handover ceremony, various direct services to the public were also held, including Rahmah Sales, health screenings, free haircuts and a free motorcycle engine oil change programme.
