CYBERJAYA, Jan 16 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil today launched the Multi-Functional Vehicle (MFV) JAPEN Arena Penggerak Komuniti (JAGO), the latest initiative by the Information Department (JAPEN) to deliver government information in a more inclusive, strategic and interactive way.
The vehicle features LED screens, a public address system, cameras and multimedia equipment, an extendable stage, and a discussion space for more dynamic and effective communication programmes.
Fahmi said there are currently four MFVs, with plans to increase the fleet in the future.
“The JAGO unit is vital for us at the Communications Ministry to engage directly with the public. Before this, we had only one legacy public address unit, Info On Wheels, which was an outdated approach.
“But I believe JAGO will allow us to share information more interactively and creatively and it’s multifunctional. This is a smart investment, and, InsyaAllah, we’ll get four units this year, with another four to follow,” he told Bernama and RTM after addressing JAPEN staff today.
A total of 16 MFVs will be rolled out by 2028 under the 12th Malaysia Plan, with RM8.8 million allocated to boost grassroots government communication.
Earlier, Fahmi spoke to over 500 JAPEN staff from across the country on the department’s role and expectations in strengthening government communications.
