KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Wanita UMNO, long known for its door-to-door campaigning, will leverage social media platforms to garner public support ahead of the 16th general election (GE16).
Its executive council member Senator Datuk Ros Suryati Alang said the wing does not want to be left behind amid rapid technological developments in highlighting current issues.
“Many women aged 60 and above are actively using social media today, so Wanita UMNO, as the backbone of the party, will work hand in hand with Puteri to ensure UMNO’s success in GE16,” she told a press conference here tonight.
Melaka Puteri UMNO chief Nurul Amirah Mohd Yusof said the wing will continue to strengthen its role on social media as the party’s primary battleground to engage younger generations, particularly Generation Z and Alpha.
Earlier, UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, in his speech at the simultaneous opening of the Wanita, Youth and Puteri general assemblies, called on the party wings to leverage digital platforms as part of UMNO’s digitalisation efforts.
