REMBAU, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- The family of the late Suri Narudin suspected from the beginning that the body found in a bag buried behind a house in Pedas was hers, based on clues from the luggage.

Her nephew, who only wanted to be known as Mizan, 41, said the family had prepared to accept any outcome regarding the late Suri, 53, affectionately known as Mak Su.

“I would like to thank the police for confirming the identity and for obtaining the DNA result analysis fast and efficiently. The police informed us of this at noon today.

“Actually, from the third day itself, we already suspected (the body was Suri). We had anticipated it was Mak Su, and the luggage bag used was indeed hers. So we were already prepared,” he said when met at the Forensic Medicine Unit of the Rembau Hospital here today.

Mizan said he last communicated with Suri in October via WhatsApp, when she inquired about him and his father's well-being.

Meanwhile, Mizan said the family hopes that the person responsible for his aunt’s murder will receive appropriate punishment based on the severity of the crime, which he described as inhumane.

“Mak Su was a friendly and happy-go-lucky person, and she was never calculative with family members or friends. We are deeply saddened because she was kind and easily trusted others,” he said, adding that his aunt will be buried at the Chembong Islamic Cemetery in Air Hitam, Rembau.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, who is also the Sarawak Ladies Association's advisor in Peninsular Malaysia, was present to pay her last respects.

She spent nearly an hour offering support and made a personal contribution to the family of the deceased.

Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the woman's identity found in a bag buried behind a house in Kampung Batu 4, Pedas, Rembau, last Thursday, was confirmed as Suri Narudin,  reported missing since Dec 8.

He said the confirmation was based on fingerprint examination, which matched records in the Malaysian National Registration Department system.
