2025 Sea Games: Ridwan Dedicates Men's Keirin Gold To Brother Shah Firdaus

BANGKOK, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- The men’s keirin gold medal won by national track cyclist Muhammad Ridwan Sahrom at the 2025 SEA Games today was specially dedicated to his brother, Muhammad Shah Firdaus, as a token of appreciation after the latter was unable to compete alongside him at the games.

Ridwan emerged as champion after defeating the host cyclist and 2018 Asian Games gold medalist, Jai Angsuthasawit, who took silver. Ridwan won by a slim margin of 0.027 seconds, while Jai's teammate Norasetthada Bunma completed the podium in third place at the Hua Mark Velodrome.

Another national representative, Muhammad Fadhil Mohd Zonis, finished the race in fourth place.

Ridwan said the victory was deeply meaningful to him because his brother had sacrificed so much and has always been a source of strength throughout his track cycling career.

The national track cycling squad was previously forced to proceed without the services of Muhammad Shah Firdaus following an injury he sustained approximately two months before the biennial games began.

“I dedicate this gold to him because he couldn't be here with me. Before I competed just now, I managed to have a call with him, and he advised me to do my best.

“Alhamdulillah, I managed to win this gold in my first SEA Games appearance. After this, I will focus on the team sprint event,” he said when met here today.
