KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) photographer Mohd Syafiq @ Ridzuan Ambak, 31, won the top award in the Best Tourism Photo category at the Seri Iman Awards (ASI) 2025 ceremony here tonight.
He clinched the prize with his photographic work titled ‘Terengganu Through the Eyes of a Fisherman’, earning him a trophy, RM2,000 in cash and a certificate of appreciation.
He added that he was grateful his work had been noticed and recognised by the organisers.
Mohd Syafiq, who previously won two silver medals for Best Photojournalism and Best Photo Essay at the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) Petronas Malaysian Journalism Awards 2024 on June 20, said he is determined to keep making Bernama proud.
“This award will serve as a source of motivation for me to continue producing artistic works through photography, while further enhancing the name of Bernama,” he said here today.
Terengganu Tourism, Culture, Environment and Climate Change Committee Deputy Chairman Sulaiman Sulong presented the award, with committee Chairman Datuk Razali Idris also in attendance.
Razali said 39 awards across 20 categories were presented at the ceremony to recognise the contributions of tourism industry players in Terengganu.
He added that this recognition is expected to encourage industry players to keep improving service quality and offer better tourism products.
“ASI was previously known as the Terengganu Tourism and Culture Awards (APKT). The event was last held in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Among the categories contested were Best Local Travel Agency, Innovative and Potential Tourism Product, Best Hotel Service, Best Media and Best Homestay Service,” he said.
He added that the state government is committed to strengthening the tourism sector and supporting the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY 2026) campaign.
