KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (WPKL) branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is disposing seized goods worth over RM4.5 million involving 309 cases within two years, from January 2024 to December 2025.
Its director, Mohd Sabri Seman said the disposal was categorised as the Kuala Lumpur KPDN 2025 Mega Disposal, as it represents the highest disposal value in the current two-year period, including today's disposal, worth over RM1 million involving 54 cases.
"This disposal reflects WPKL KPDN's ongoing commitment to clearing and managing exhibit case items based on legal processes and integrity, while also ensuring that non-compliant goods do not return to the market," he said at a press conference today.
He said the disposal involved cases under the Trademarks Act 2019, the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 and the Consumer Protection Act 1999.
Among the items disposed are clothing and fashion accessories such as shirts, pants, hats, shoes, slippers, belts, bags, wallets and watches; electronic components including chargers, batteries and phone accessories.
"Other goods also include health and beauty products, cleaning and home care products, as well as vehicle spare parts and maintenance items such as engine oil, water filters, air filters and oil filters," he said.
Mohd Sabri said the disposal action greatly benefits society by preventing illegal goods from returning to the market, as well as raising consumer awareness and education so that consumers are more aware of their rights and safety.
According to him, the action also protects the environment through controlled and prudent disposal methods, safeguards public health from the risks of using goods that do not meet safety standards, and protects local industries and products from unfair competition," he said.
In 2025, he said the WPKL KPDN recorded 584 enforcement cases with the total value of seizures reaching RM4,660,328.06, while the value of compounds imposed amounted to RM825,500 and fines totalled RM255,658.
"The highest quantity of goods disposed are from the fashion clothing and accessories category under the Trademarks Act 2019, totalling 24,800 units," he said.
The disposal is being held at the WPKL KPDN exhibit storage facility and carried out by Mohd Sabri, with Selangor KPDN director Mohd Shahran Mohd Arshad.
All disposed items have completed court proceedings and received disposal orders or permission in accordance with the legal provisions under the jurisdiction of KPDN, with the disposal process carried out systematically and in compliance with the Exhibit Management Standard Operating Procedure for case items.
Meanwhile, Mohd Sabri said WPKL KPDN will continue to intensify efforts to combat the misappropriation and leakage of goods next year, focusing on large-scale syndicates.
"Another additional focus for next year, we will be more targeted in our efforts to combat large-scale cartels and syndicates involved in the misappropriation and leakage of controlled goods," he said, adding that enforcement strategies will be strengthened with a more focused target on major syndicate networks.
