MADANI Adopted Village Programme: DOE Completes 22 Projects In Kg Linggi

SEREMBAN, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- The Department of Environment (DOE) has completed 22 projects in Kampung Linggi, Port Dickson, under its MADANI Adopted Village programme this year.

Director General, Datuk Wan Abdul Latiff Wan Jaffar, said the projects fell under five main areas: Environmental Advocacy Centres, Sustainable Schools, Mosques, Public Halls and Community Halls, and Community Work.

"Key projects included the installation of a 9.3 kWp solar system at the Linggi Community Hall and an 18.6 kWp system at Masjid Sheikh Jamaluddin Al-Linggi, which are expected to save RM6,000 and RM12,000 in annual electricity bills, respectively.

"Other initiatives include establishing an Environmental Advocacy Centre as a community resource, the Sustainable School-Environmental Award programme, and organising sustainable community projects," he said in a statement here today.

Wan Abdul Latiff added that the department's MADANI Adopted Village programme also emphasises holistic education, technology and community empowerment, aiming for an inclusive development of the local community. 

He emphasised that a culture of environmental conservation is vital and must become an everyday practice.

“DOE is not just a regulator; we are also an educator, facilitator, and partner. I hope the cooperation shown in this programme continues with future initiatives,” he said.

He confirmed that the department will continue its sustainability work in Kampung Linggi and welcomed further collaboration, adding that the village can serve as a model for others.
