BANGKOK, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- The national men’s Under-23 (U-23) football squad advanced to the semifinal of the 2025 South East Asian (SEA) Games football competition here as the best group runners-up today.
The Malaysians edged Indonesia with a better goal advantage with a total of four goals compared to Indonesia’s three goals after two matches and will meet hosts Thailand, who finished as Group A champions, at Rajamangala Stadium on Monday.
The other semifinal will be between Group B champions Vietnam and Group C champions the Philippines.
This development is progress from their performance in the last SEA Games in 2023 where they crashed out in the group stage.
Malaysia’s last medal was a silver in the 2017 Games in Kuala Lumpur.
