Lotus's Malaysia Donates RM80,000 In Hygiene Kits To Flood Victims

11/12/2025 05:24 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 (Bernama) -- Lotuss Stores Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) has stepped forward to assist flood victims with personal hygiene care packs worth RM80,000 through the Lotus’s 2025 Flood Relief Mission initiative.

Executive Director of Corporate Services of Lotus’s Malaysia, Azliza Azmel, said the relief mission was mobilised early without waiting for the situation to become critical, in line with preparations for the expected larger flood season as predicted by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

“The objective is for us to be prepared from now on so that these aid packs are readily available on demand.

“Today, 800 packs, mostly Lotus’s brand products, have been packed with each box valued at about RM100, bringing the total aid to RM80,000,” she said during the Lotus’s 2025 Flood Relief Mission event at Lotus’s Ara Damansara here today.

To ensure that the aid can be channelled in an orderly and speedy manner, Lotus’s Malaysia is working with two non-governmental organisations with extensive experience in disaster management,  Malaysia Relief Agency (MRA) and Global Ehsan Relief Malaysia (GER).

Azliza said that the items in the hygiene kits include laundry detergent, bath soap, towels, toothbrushes and tissues for the benefit of flood victims at temporary evacuation centres (PPS), especially in flood-prone hotspot areas of Kelantan, Terengganu and Johor.

She added that the relief mission is a continuation of the #kitakanjiran ('Afterall We Are Neighbours') Initiative and flood relief programmes implemented since 2021, reflecting Lotus's genuine concern in helping disaster victims.

She said a total of 50 Lotus's Malaysia staff members were mobilised as volunteers to prepare the hygiene care packs.

Meanwhile, MRA Selangor Chairperson Sharifah Nor Syed Mohamad said this first-time collaboration with Lotus's Malaysia resulted in an excellent implementation of corporate responsibility, thus rendering it easier for them to assist flood victims.

She said the hygiene care packs from Lotus's would be distributed to flood-affected areas, notably in states severely impacted, such as Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu and Perak.

"Previously, MRA has sent aid to flood-hit states, but we realise that much more assistance is still needed. So, we really appreciate this kind of collaboration," she said.
