20 Rest Areas Along PLUS Highway Designated As ‘Patuh’ Rest Stop Zones

SEREMBAN, Oct 29 (Bernama)-- A total of 20 Rest and Service Areas (R&R) along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) in Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Perak have been designated as Rest Stop Zones (ZPP) under the ‘Patuh’ programme starting today, Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said.

She said the initiative aims to strengthen a culture of business compliance and ensure that the nation’s trade ecosystem remains conducive and ethical, particularly among business entities, while promoting traders’ self-regulation in accordance with the law.

“Two key initiatives have been introduced as pilot projects — the Patuh Rest Stop Zone (ZPP) and the Patuh Market (Pasar Patuh). Today, the PLUS Seremban Southbound R&R becomes the first ZPP in Malaysia under the Patuh programme, followed by other R&R locations.

“The implementation of ZPP involves 20 out of 29 PLUS rest and service areas in the initial phase before being expanded to other highways nationwide,” she told reporters after launching the programme at the PLUS Seremban Southbound R&R here today.

Fuziah said the rest areas were selected due to their high visitor traffic and their suitability as platforms for consumer education and as models of lawful, ethical and integrity-based business practices.

She said this approach supports the government’s goal of strengthening public confidence in a fair, ethical and competitive trading system.

“The programme’s implementation also reflects the spirit of cross-agency collaboration among the government, industry and consumers to ensure that every initiative is carried out comprehensively and with high impact,” she said.

Fuziah said that in addition to rest stop zones and markets, four other types of premises will implement the Patuh Programme — supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, and tourism zones — beginning early next year.

She said the Patuh market initiative is also expected to strengthen adherence among public market traders, with an emphasis on clear pricing, accurate weighing tools and a clean trading environment.

The programme will first be implemented at one public market in each state before being gradually expanded nationwide.
