Warisan'25 Festival - Platform To Uplift Local Heritage

KANGAR, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- The four-day 2025 Warisan Nusantara Festival (Warisan’25), which began yesterday, serves as a platform to celebrate and preserve local arts, culture and heritage, ensuring they remain relevant and appreciated among the young generation.

Perlis Tourism, Arts and Culture and Rural Development Committee chairman Abu Bakar Hamzah said the festival plays an important role in strengthening the spirit of unity and nurturing a sense of pride and love for the nation’s invaluable cultural heritage.

“As we embrace modernity, we must never forget our cultural roots, which form the backbone of our nation’s strength. Young people need to understand the history and artistic legacy of our heritage so that they can continue to take pride in being heirs to a great civilisation,” he told reporters after opening the festival at the Heritage Hall here today.

Abu Bakar said that apart from deepening appreciation for the region’s cultural heritage, festivals like Warisan’25 also have the potential to attract more tourists to the state.

 “I truly hope that programmes like this will continue in the future because, as part of our main tourism and cultural agenda, we need such initiatives to realise the vision of Visit Perlis 2024-2025 a success which is now extended until 2026.

“In addition to being able to enjoy various cultural performances and shows, visitors also have the opportunity to visit interesting tourist destinations in Perlis. I hope that this festival can be continued again,  especially next year, which is Visit Malaysia Year,” he said.

The festival features a range of programmes, including cultural performances, heritage exhibitions and interactive activities that highlight the uniqueness of local traditional arts.
