J-KOM Strengthens Govt-people Relationship Through MADANI Rakyat Programme

12/10/2025 04:12 PM

JASIN, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The Community Communications Department (J-KOM) continues to intensify its role in efforts to strengthen the relationship between the government and the people through the organisation of the MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR).

J-KOM director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop said this is done through the implementation of various field programmes, including the Fishermen Community PMR held at Medan Ikan Bakar Serkam Pantai here.

"This programme is implemented in collaboration with the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) of the Prime Minister’s Department, the Serkam State Constituency Development and Coordination Committee (Japerun) and the Melaka Fisheries Department to bring government policies and initiatives directly closer to the fishing community.

"Through such platforms, J-KOM serves as a communication conduit between the government and the people, strengthening understanding based on faces and not perception, in addition to providing opportunities to the local community to have direct access to various government facilities and services,” he said at the event here.

The event was earlier officiated by state Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee deputy chairman Datuk Zaidi Attan, also the Serkam assemblyman.

Elaborating, Ismail said the programme is part of the national-level PMR Tour series and the highlight of the programme will be the official opening by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Politeknik Merlimau on Friday (Oct 17).

Ismail also said that J-KOM remains committed to ensuring every government policy and initiative, including the targeted RON95 fuel subsidy under BUDI MADANI, is clearly understood by the people, especially coastal communities such as fishermen, who directly benefit from its implementation.

"As a result, people now understand that surplus subsidy funds are reused for other initiatives, such as SARA and BUDI95, proving that clear strategic communication can build people’s confidence in government policies.

"Integrated strategic communications between government agencies also ensures messages and information delivered to the people remain consistent and accurate,” he said.

He added that the Fishermen Community PMR also features various initiatives, including entrepreneurial advisory services and assistance for fishermen, free health screenings, government agency exhibitions, sales of local products and community activities.

At the event, Zaidi also presented several MADANI Awards to individuals and groups that showed excellence in various aspects of coastal community living.

The awards presented included the Samudera MADANI Award, Permata MADANI Award, MADANI Inspirational Award, Gemilang MADANI Award and Citra Nelayan MADANI Award.
