Israeli Forces Deploy Water Cannons As GSF Ships Enters Red Zone R2

02/10/2025 06:41 AM

SEPANG, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The ship All In has become the first in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) convoy to cross into Red Zone R2, placing it just 66.6 nautical miles from the shores of Gaza, according to real-time data from the Sumud Nusantara tracking system.

As of 4.30 am Malaysian time, All In was followed into Red Zone R2 by several other ships, including Mango, Ohwayla, Seulle, Mikeno, Meteque, Estrella Y Manuel, and Free Willy.

However, by 5.14 am, all ships had issued yellow emergency alerts, believed to be in response to provocations or direct attacks by Israeli forces. Live CCTV footage from the ships suggests the flotilla was targeted with water cannon assaults.

Several of the ships under attack, including Estrella Y Manuel, Mikeno, and Free Willy, are carrying Malaysian activists.

Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby confirmed that Israeli forces have employed various tactics to disrupt the GSF’s humanitarian mission, with the latest being water cannon strikes.

“This assault using water cannons began today, following a series of radar jamming attempts and drone surveillance operations aimed at tracking and destabilising the flotilla,” he said.

Tension escalated as humanitarian activists onboard the ships livestreamed the unfolding crisis, reporting that Israeli forces had surrounded the ships and were attempting to disable the convoy as it approached Gaza’s coastline.

So far, no injuries have been reported. However, the GSF delegation remains steadfast in its mission, vowing to continue despite increasingly aggressive Israeli actions.

At 5.26 am, SNCC issued a further update confirming that Malaysian singer Zizi Kirana, onboard Huga, could no longer be reached. The ship has reportedly been intercepted, with no SOS signal received.
