KLANG, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- The Eco World Foundation remains committed to supporting the national education policy through the sponsorship of a knowledge capsule, which also serves as a mini library and activity pod, for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Ying Wah, Kapar.
Eco World Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the initiative was aimed at cultivating a love for reading among students and inspiring the younger generation to embrace learning, especially in the digital age.
“As part of the Eco World Foundation, Eco Sanctuary provides RM42,000 in full sponsorship to realise the knowledge capsule, which was completed in just three weeks, reflecting the team’s continued commitment to national education.
“This knowledge capsule serves not only as a reading space but also as a place that sparks curiosity among learners eager to discover diverse areas of knowledge,” he said at the launch of the Knowledge Capsule at SJKC Ying Wah here today.
Lee said the capsule also gave teachers the chance to engage students in activities such as storytelling and knowledge sharing to enrich classroom learning.
He said SJKC Ying Wah was the third school this year to benefit from the foundation’s Knowledge Capsule initiative, bringing the total contribution to RM162,000.
“SJKC Ying Wah was chosen as 20 of its students are part of the Eco World Foundation Student Assistance Programme, which has so far benefitted 2,000 students nationwide. (Through this), we are helping the less fortunate to pursue knowledge.
“I hope all students will appreciate and make full use of this Knowledge Capsule and take good care of it so future students can enjoy the same benefits,” he said.
Earlier, the Knowledge Capsule handover ceremony was attended by SJKC Ying Wah headmaster Low Chee Xiang, Board of Governors chairman Lim Teng Huat, Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) chairman Lee Biau Gan and Alumni Association chairman Tan Cheng Yap.
Designed as an open-concept learning pod, the Knowledge Capsule comes with air conditioning, floor seating and modest furnishings to offer a cosy and attractive space for learning.
Strategically located in the centre of the school compound, next to the canteen and hall, the Knowledge Capsule is open to students daily during recess starting at 10 am.
The capsule is made available to every class for a one-hour session each week to carry out reading or other learning activities.
