PUTRAJAYA, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department (BHEUU, JPM) will hold a nationwide roadshow to gather public feedback on the proposed establishment of an Anti-Bullying Tribunal.

Communications Minister and Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the initiative aims to collect views from the public and stakeholders to further improve processes, laws and mechanisms related to the tribunal.

“(Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri) Azalina (Othman Said) has informed (at the Cabinet meeting) that she will conduct a roadshow, holding engagement sessions or town halls with various parties starting in Kuala Lumpur, before moving on to each state to hear and obtain feedback from the public and stakeholders regarding the proposed Anti-Bullying Tribunal.

“Detailed information, including locations, times and how to participate, will be provided by Datuk Seri Azalina’s office,” he told a post-Cabinet press conference here today.

Fahmi said at the meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Azalina also briefed the Cabinet on the Special Committee Meeting on Tackling Bullying Issues held yesterday, which involved secretaries-general, director-generals and representatives from various ministries and agencies.

The discussions included efforts towards the establishment of an Anti-Bullying Tribunal.

“Among the points raised was a proposal by the Children’s Commissioner of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) that the tribunal be limited to cases involving individuals below the age of 18. But this remains an initial suggestion.

“She (Azalina) informed that further meetings will be held next week to examine aspects related to planning for the establishment of the Anti-Bullying Tribunal,” he said.
