Terengganu MOTAC Calls For Greater School Participation In K3P

KUALA BERANG, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Terengganu Office, has urged more schools to participate in the Student’s Tourism Programme (K3P), to nurture young ambassadors for the state’s tourism sector.

Its director Mazshida Ruslal said that about 180 students from six secondary schools in the state have registered as K3P members this year.

She said that, in addition to providing initial exposure to the tourism industry, students also gain experience through volunteer activities and practical work.

“K3P registration is open to secondary schools, with at least 30 students who voluntarily wish to join as members.

“The challenge now is that most schools focus on other areas, such as sports clubs, and few teachers are willing to serve as tourism mentors. As a result, many schools are unable to gather 30 students, and cannot establish a K3P,” she said at the Rimba Explorers K3P programme at the Rimba Razia Zoo, in Kampung Dusun, today.

Mazshida said that, besides nurturing young ambassadors who can provide information on the state’s tourism products, the establishment of K3P in schools also helps increase students’ awareness of career opportunities in the field.

She added that the ministry is currently working to improve and strengthen the K3P module to produce more capable and high-quality student ambassadors, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026.

“We hope that, next year, more schools in Terengganu will register for K3P. Throughout this year, we will be running various programmes, including arts and handicrafts, tree planting, petting zoos, and more,” she said.
