SHAH ALAM, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Topcon Positioning Asia (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Topcon Malaysia) has launched its first Southeast Asia training centre, Topcon Malaysia Training Centre (TMTC), a strategic investment to drive digital transformation in construction and infrastructure sector in the region.
The training centre, which will be inculcating advanced system in its curriculum, will modernise local workforce capabilities, demonstrating the company’s commitment to support Malaysia's goals outlined in the Construction 4.0 strategic plan, said Topcon Malaysia director Vincent Lai.
"We look forward to collaborating with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and technical institutions that share our commitment to positioning Malaysia as a regional leader in smart construction.
"With your continued support, we will elevate industry standards, drive innovation, and build a resilient, technology-driven future for the built environment," he said in his speech at TMTC official opening ceremony here today.
Also present were Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility Exco, Ng Sze Han, Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, Noriyuki Shikata, and Topcon Corporation president Takashi Eto.
Meanwhile, Ng said the TMTC is an important step in building a competitive and high performing talent ecosystem in Malaysia, with Selangor at the forefront, as well as strnegthening relations between Selangor and Japan.
He said Selangor has continued to lead the way in fostering a thriving business environment.
"Selangor leads the nation in business success, with 75.9 per cent of Japanese companies in the state reporting profitability, well above the national average,” he said.
He highlighted that out of more than 1,600 Japanese companies operating in Malaysia, 696 of them are based in Selangor, including industry giants such as Panasonic, Toyota, Hitachi, and NTT.
“This concentration of global businesses in Selangor not only boosts our economy but also drives innovation and job creation," said Ng.
Based in Shah Alam, TMTC is established to meet the needs of engineers, surveyors, machine operators, site supervisors, public-sector technical teams, as well as vocational and technical students by offering hands-on training facilities that focus on land surveying and construction.
Its comprehensive training modules encompass digital construction technology, including practical training in measurements, machine control, 3D site modelling and data management utilising Topcon’s latest software and hardware.
The training also integrates advanced positioning technologies such as the Global Navigation Satellite System into real-world construction workflows to help professionals improve accuracy and operational efficiency.
