PETALING JAYA, June 25 (Bernama) -- South Korean convenience store chain emart24 aims to operate 115 outlets nationwide by end-2025, with plans to expand into the southern region, particularly Johor.
emart24 Holdings Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Vuitton Pang said Johor is the company’s near-term focus, driven by growing demand for Korean food and beverage products.
“Johor is a very big market, we have received many comments on our social media platforms asking us to open there. We are simply responding to what customers want, and we will bring a stronger presence to the state,” he said after launching emart24’s 100th outlet in Kota Damansara today.
Pang added that emart24 is the first and fastest Korean convenience chain to expand in Malaysia’s East Coast and it is tapping into the growing appetite for halal-certified Korean flavours.
“The response in states like Terengganu and Kelantan has been incredibly encouraging, and we are grateful for the warm welcome and continuous support,” he added.
The company also aims to open another 50 outlets next year, each requiring an estimated investment of over RM300,000 per outlet, as part of its plan to offer affordable halal Korean street food experience to Malaysian consumers.
To navigate market challenges, Pang said the company works closely with local suppliers, with all products in its stores being locally made, a move that helps the company stay resilient amid rising costs and global uncertainties.
“All the current geopolitical disruptions don’t affect us much because we rely heavily on local suppliers.
“We just focus on quality, introduce exciting new products and promos, and keep our pricing affordable to stay competitive in this industry,” he said.
