JOHOR BAHRU, June 23 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) have strengthened their squad for the upcoming campaign with the signing of heritage player Jon Irazabal.
The signing of the former Azerbaijani Sabah FC defender was shared through a video uploaded on Johor Southern Tigers Facebook.
"Our defence gets another wall, a familiar one nonetheless. Jon Irazabal has inked a deal with the Southern Tigers!" it said.
Irazabal will don the jersey number 17 with the 11th time Super League champions.
The 28-year-old, who has Sabahan heritage through his mother, was recently naturalised and made his debut for the Malaysian national team in June.
Prior to joining JDT, Irazabal played for Sabah FC in Azerbaijan, where he made 98 appearances and helped the club clinch the Azerbaijan Cup in the 2024–25 season.
Besides Irazabal, the other signings made by the Southern Tigers are Spanish centreback Antonio Glauder, Brazilian striker Jairo Da Silva and defensive midfielder Ibrahim Manusi.
