KUCHING, June 20 (Bernama) -- A new Sarawak Craft Council headquarters and gallery will be built here, said state Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
He said the state government has identified a site for the project, and the proposal has been presented to Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The centre, he said, will be located behind the Gurdwara Sahib Sikh Temple and near the Borneo Cultures Museum.
“Now we are in the process of acquiring the land. The entire two-acre site will be used for the Sarawak Craft Council office and gallery. It will be the centre of activities.
“An Autonomous Rapid Transit station will be located nearby, and visitors to the museum will also be able to purchase crafts there. It will take approximately two years for this project to become a reality,” he told a press conference after chairing the Sarawak Craft Council meeting today.
