Quran Memorisation Combined With TVET Boosts Role Of Huffaz – DPM Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 (Bernama) -- Combining Quran memorisation with technical and vocational skills not only makes huffaz more versatile but also creates greater opportunities for them to contribute actively to the advancement of the religion, race and nation, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the "Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam" themed "Developing a Generation of Skilled Huffaz”, held last night in conjunction with the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day 2025 celebration, had opened a new dimension for the future of the Quranic generation.

“I share the views of the panel speakers who stressed the need to treat TVET as 'fardu kifayah', as it is a communal obligation essential to building a progressive ummah in today’s world.

“In fact, I fully agree with the statement that ‘religion has never separated the factory, the workshop and the mosque’.

“What’s even more encouraging is that the majority of attendees last night were youth. This proves that interest in a balanced approach to education is growing stronger among the younger generation,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the National TVET Council chairman, said efforts will continue to be strengthened to produce more skilled huffaz who are not only well-versed in divine revelation but also competent in navigating real-world challenges.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the National TVET Day 2025 celebration at the Melaka International Trade Centre in Ayer Keroh. The three-day event concludes today.
