MAKKAH, June 10 (Bernama) -- Saudi Arabia’s Project for the Utilisation of Hady and Adahi (Adahi Project) has emerged as a global model for sustainable and efficient Udhiya meat management, combining religious values with state-of-the-art preservation technology to ensure high-quality distribution throughout the Hajj season.

General Supervisor of the Adahi Project, Saad Al-Wabel, said every Hajj season, greater consideration is given to the methods of preserving Adahi meat in a manner that is safe, healthy, and befitting for the pilgrims.

By utilising the most advanced industrial refrigeration and freezing technologies, he said the project ensures that Adahi meat remains well preserved and of high quality until it reaches beneficiaries both within the kingdom and abroad

“This is accomplished through world-class refrigeration capacity exceeding one million heads of livestock, forming the largest system of its kind globally, and making the kingdom a world-class role model and leader in the field of meat preservation.

“This reflects the dedication of the project’s teams at every stage of the meat-handling process, from initial receipt and inspection to freezing, storage, and distribution,” he said.

To date, over 830,000 Udhiyas have been frozen using this state-of-the-art technology — a method that not only offers a technical solution but also reflects a respectful and sustainable approach to the divine blessing of Udhiya.

Al-Wabel affirmed that the project stems from a visionary strategy aimed at improving the efficiency and sustainability of Udhiya management.

The Adahi Project makes a significant contribution to promoting food security, while prioritising the service of pilgrims and the pursuit of sustainability.

Meanwhile, Al-Wabel said the Adahi Project considers every Udhiya a valuable gift that must reach its recipients and beneficiaries in the highest possible quality.

“That’s why we go beyond freezing and storage, ensuring that all meat is delivered to charity organisations and beneficiaries in accordance with the highest levels of safety and oversight,” he said.
