KUANTAN, June 10 (Bernama) -- A total of 115 houses and four public facilities have been recorded as damaged as of noon today due to heavy rain and storms in Temerloh yesterday.
Temerloh District Civil Defense officer Capt (PA) Mohamad Irwan Mohamad said the incident at 5 pm had affected homes in Taman Sri Kerinau, Kampung Pulau Terap, Taman Pamah Kasih, Taman Pulai Bistari, Kampung Batu 4 1/2 Jalan Maran, Kampung Paya Luas and Kampung Padang Lalang.
Also affected were houses in Kampung Tok Embun, Kampung Bangau Parit, Kampung Tanjung Besar, Kampung Bangau Tanjung, Jalan Sri Layang, as well as public facilities such as the Dewan Belia Kampung Paya Luas, Astaka Padang Bola Kampung Paya Luas, Tabika Kemas Bukit Resak and Sekolah Kebangsaan Paya Pulai.
"As of 1.30 pm, 115 houses and four public facilities were damaged. No injuries or fatalities were reported in this incident, and no temporary evacuation centres were opened," he said when contacted today.
He also said that cleaning operations are being actively carried out by various parties, including security forces such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Malaysian Armed Forces and local residents.
He added that the APM and Department of Social Welfare have gone to the incident sites for monitoring and information gathering, and subsequently delivered basic necessities and food kits.
