Polish Election Commission Confirms Nawrocki Win With 50.89 Pct Of Vote

WARSAW, June 2 (Bernama-dpa) -- Polish conservative Karol Nawrocki has won the run-off election for the Poland presidency, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

The electoral commission confirmed on Monday that Nawrocki secured 50.89 per cent of the vote after all the votes had been counted.

His opponent, liberal candidate Rafał Trzaskowski, received 49.11 per cent. 

Of the 29 million eligible voters, Nawrocki received 10.60 million votes, while Traszkowski received 10.23 million. 

The commission said voter turnout was just under 72 per cent. 

Nawrocki, a historian who has never held public office, represents the conservative nationalist Law and Justice party and will succeed incumbent Andrzej Duda.
