JAKARTA, June 20 (Bernama) -- Indonesia, the world’s largest sender of Hajj pilgrims, is set to receive a quota of 221,000 pilgrims for the upcoming Hajj operations in 2025.
The announcement was made by Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas following his participation in the Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Hajj Services and the quota allocation event in Makkah, organised by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
“We appreciate the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for their early announcement of the quota, which helps in preparing for the Hajj,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
The minister also commended Saudi authorities for their strict enforcement of regulations concerning both Hajj and non-Hajj visas.
This year, Indonesia facilitated a total of 241,000 Hajj pilgrims, comprising 213,320 regular pilgrims and 27,680 special pilgrims.
