Sc Intends To Reach More Universities, Students For Invested Programme - Chairman

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 (Bernama) -- The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) intends to redouble its efforts to reach out to more students, especially those at public universities, and ensure that no talent goes untapped for investED, its flagship capital market graduate programme.

Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) chairman Datuk Seri Awang Adek Hussin said this would be done by expanding the reach of the programme to include more universities and students across the country.

“Additionally, seeking feedback from participants and industry professionals can help us tailor the programme to better meet the needs of aspiring professionals in the capital market industry,” he said at the graduation ceremony for the first cohort of investED today.

Awang Adek said the SC has also sought feedback from participants and industry professionals that will help tailor the programme and career talk formats to better meet the needs of aspiring professionals in the capital industry.

“In addition, we intend to expand our network of industry partners to provide our trainees with even more diversified options.

“This will also help us cultivate a rich tapestry of speakers, representing a wide spectrum of age groups, backgrounds, and career stages, to better connect with our young graduates,” he said.

The three-year investED programme was established to create a sustainable talent pipeline that would not only meet industry needs but also drive innovation and growth in the capital market industry.

“We set ourselves the goal of enhancing the capital market knowledge of 9,000 students and paving the way for 600 graduates to embark on promising career paths within the capital market industry,” he said.

In the first year of the programme, Awang Adek said the uptake of the investED Foundation Programme attracted 2,526 applicants, a 216 per cent achievement against the initial target of 800 student applications.

The first cohort of investED’s Leadership Programme, which started in August 2023, attracted over 2,500 applications from fresh graduates, and among the 200 shortlisted candidates, 169 graduated today after completing a six-month job placement with 53 partner companies.

The investED Leadership Programme is now accepting applications for its second cohort until June 30, 2024.
