Melaka Mcmc Educates People To Combat Fake News At Hbn 2024

MELAKA, May 26 (Bernama) -- Towards combating fake news and educating the public about the safe use of the internet, Melaka Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) went down to the ground to provide information in conjunction with RIUH Carnival x National Youth Day at Dataran Pahlawan, Banda Hilir here.

Melaka MCMC director Syed Isa Alsagoff said MCMC provides information about sessara.my website to visitors on the agency's website to combat fake news.

"Through the website, visitors can get accurate information about a news that is going viral and they can also verify the news themselves.

"We are also holding the ‘Klik Dengan Bijak’ exhibition to educate the public not to be easily deceived by online fraud," he told Bernama here today.

He said in addition, Melaka MCMC also provides online games such as PlayStation 5 (PS5) as well as an introduction to 'virtual reality' for visitors, especially the youth.

He said MCMC also gave the opportunity to entrepreneurs who use the services at the National Information Distribution Centre (NADI) to also participate in the entrepreneurship programme in conjunction with the carnival.

Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching was earlier reported as saying that the programme under Kembara RIUH organised by MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd will bring 12 vendors offering a variety of art and creative items as well as food in conjunction with the National Youth Day celebration.

Visitors can also enjoy free concerts on Saturday and Sunday nights featuring popular groups such as Hujan, Insomniacks, Dolla, Bunga, iamNEETA and several indie artistes.
