CHARITY RUN MARKS KOARRAHMAN'S JOURNEY TOWARDS BECOMING AN ACTIVE CO-OP

KEPALA BATAS, May 25 (Bernama) -- The charity run organised by Koperasi Kariah Masjid Ar Rahman Permatang Rambai (KoArRahman) in Penaga, here, marks its journey towards becoming an active cooperative.

The KoArRahman charity run (LAKARun) programme director Zahir Jamaludin said 300 people, comprising the mosque congregants and residents from the surrounding area aged between seven and 70, took part in the event.

“This charity run involves a five-kilometre route starting in the mosque compound, passing through the padi fields and back at the mosque. Besides raising funds for the cooperative, the programme aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen brotherhood among mosque congregants, enhance the congregants’ connection with the mosque, and foster closer ties between cooperative members and the community.

“Other events such as a ‘senamrobik’ exercise, colouring contest for children and a lucky draw offering a foldable bicycle as the main prize were also held,” he told Bernama.

A memorandum of understanding signing ceremony was also held between KoArRahman, represented by its chairman Datuk Mohd Ghazali Hashim and TRA Holidays Sdn Bhd, represented by its general manager Abdul Jalil Zainol, to forge a strategic collaboration to implement various projects, programmes and activities that will benefit the cooperative.

Meanwhile, KoArRahman publicity committee member Noraini Tahir said TRA Holidays was selected because it has other businesses such as convenience stores, laundromats, and bread and pastry bakeries. 

“Moving forward, we hope to collaborate with more parties to further increase the cooperative’s involvement in various economic sectors and develop competent human capital with entrepreneurial capabilities, ultimately becoming a cooperative that benefits its members,” she said.

According to her, KoArRahman, registered in 2022 with about 100 members, conducts small-scale online business for now, including selling fruits, basic necessities and cakes and supplying salted eggs to other cooperatives in the Klang Valley.
