KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 (Bernama) -- DRB-Hicom Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (Deftech) has inked a collaboration agreement with the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM) to further enhance research and development (R&D) in unmanned aerial vehicles and other areas within the automotive sector.
In a statement today, Deftech, a subsidiary wholly owned by DRB-Hicom Bhd, said the collaboration aligns with its strategy to deepen engagement with local research entities to enhance its role to pioneer local unmanned systems development.
"The partnership with UPNM, which specialises in cutting-edge research in defence technology, cybersecurity, and military strategy, will see the two parties stepping up on joint R&D initiatives for unmanned system technologies, as well as the automotive components and systems areas," it said.
The agreement was signed by Deftech chief executive officer Mohammad Shanaz Mohammad Shees and UPNM vice-chancellor Lt Gen Datuk Mardzuki Muhammad on the sidelines of the Defence Services Asia and National Security Asia 2024 exhibitions here today.
The ceremony was witnessed by DRB-Hicom group managing director Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar.
