GEORGE TOWN, May 4 (Bernama) -- People planning to attend the MADANI Rakyat 2024 Programme for the Northern Zone at Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong near here are advised to choose suitable clothing due to the current hot weather.

Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil issued this reminder, highlighting the need to prevent visitors from suffering heatstroke.

"The weather outside is quite hot. If you're bringing young children, bring an umbrella or hat to protect them from heatstroke," he said after visiting the Ministry of Communications' booth at the MADANI Rakyat 2024 Northern Zone Programme today.

According to a report from the myCuaca application by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the temperature in this area can reach up to 34 degrees Celsius.

Fahmi also encouraged the public to make use of free public transportation services to facilitate their travel to the event, which has been taking place since yesterday and will continue until tomorrow.

Two routes are available for the shuttle bus service: Route 1 from Padang Kawad Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong (every 30 minutes), and Route 2 from the ferry pier to Queensbay Mall to Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong (every 45 minutes).

All these services operate from 10 am to 10 pm during the MADANI Rakyat 2024 Northern Zone Programme.

A free ferry service is also provided from Sultan Abdul Halim Terminal in Butterworth to Raja Tun Uda Terminal during the three-day event, along with free KTM Komuter (Northern) services today and tomorrow, involving journeys from Padang Besar and Ipoh to Butterworth.
