Mci Capital Launches Rm500 Mln Sustainable Growth Fund

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- MCI Capital Sdn Bhd has launched the MCI Sustainable Growth Fund of up to RM500 million for five years.

The company said the fund is to support the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into Malaysian businesses, aimed towards sustainable economic development.

MCI Capital is a forefront private equity firm in Malaysia, recognised for its strategic investment solutions and adherence to high standards of integrity and compliance.

Its chairman, Cannis Chan said the company plans to invest the funds in companies in Malaysia that focus on ESG principles.

“This year, we wished to expand the vision, mission and horizon of those companies in line with the ESG principles for dual listing particularly in Malaysia and Singapore or such other countries to enable the companies to access broader funds globally.

“We are also partnered with a security firm in Singapore to enable the dual listing exercise,” she said after the launching ceremony of the MCI Sustainable Growth Fund, here today.

The fund is aimed to leverage the global shift towards sustainability, providing investors with opportunities to engage in a diversified portfolio that also includes the equity market and others.

It said that the fund represents a strategic alignment with global investment trends that prioritise long-term sustainability alongside traditional financial metrics. 

Meanwhile, Chan said apart from the MCI Sustainable Growth Fund, the company also plans to launch another fund next month that focuses on entertainment and environmental aspects.
