KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- French electronic manufacturing service firm éolane has inaugurated a new manufacturing plant in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah, with a total investment of 8.7 million euros (RM45 million) for the first phase of the project.
Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) said éolane expects to create about 150 job opportunities within the state in phase one.
Additionally, éolane plans to significantly increase its production capacity in phase two to meet the future demand for high-quality electronic products.
"The new facility represents a major milestone in éolane’s sustainability roadmap to meet the industry's growing demand sustainably.
"The new production site is fully equipped with a cutting-edge digital production line and system," MIDA said in a statement.
The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, MIDA Kedah director Mohd Rushdan Mohd Ghazali, and éolane chief executive officer (CEO) Olivier Clement.
MIDA CEO Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid said the new facility aligns with Malaysia's New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, underscoring éolane’s confidence in Malaysia's sustained economic growth.
"We are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the automated plant, committed to sustainable practices, not only succeeds but also integrates Malaysia into éolane’s vital international value chain.
"We are dedicated to supporting industry leaders like éolane and eagerly anticipate their future achievements on the global stage," he said.
MIDA said Malaysia has actively promoted and implemented sustainable development initiatives in line with the national investment aspirations and development goals.
In line with this, éolane, through its shared value creation roadmap, aims to contribute to Malaysia’s sustainability goals, such as reducing energy usage, fostering economic growth, and achieving operational excellence in digital factories.
Éolane has also established its sustainability roadmap to drive the company’s growth, innovation, and productivity with ESG engagement.
"We have chosen Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah, as the new location for our plant, as we believe the state possesses the necessary infrastructure, talent, and capabilities to meet the demands of the manufacturing industry.
"With this new facility, we will be able to capture and capitalise on the industry’s demand, not only in Kedah or Malaysia but also in the broader Asian region," added Clement.
