THREE KEY VISIONS SET TO PROPEL EPIC GROUP TO GREATER HEIGHTS

KUALA TERENGGANU, April 23 (Bernama) -- Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Berhad (EPIC Group) has outlined three key visions that will steer the company towards greater success in the future.

EPIC Group chief executive officer Muhtar Suhaili said the visions, namely human capital development, performance-based organisational assessment, and the aspiration to position the company as the premier choice, would serve as guiding principles across all levels of management and among employees.

He said that the visions are in line with the aspirations and objectives of the group to forge a brighter future for the company.

“The development of human capital is crucial to ensuring that the company can effectively mobilize its workforce towards achieving the desired success. This success will serve as a performance benchmark for employees, the company, or the implemented activities.

“All assessments will be based on merit, efficiency, and the ability to execute tasks. Those displaying exceptional performance will be rewarded and offered opportunities, while underperforming staff will be assessed for improvement to enhance competitiveness,” he said in an exclusive interview with Bernama.

In addition to the visions, Muhtar said that EPIC Group incorporates five fundamental core values into its workflow and business operations.

They are health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ); sustainability; internal governance control; growth; and human resources.

“At the same time, I have also developed and introduced a culture slogan called BE FACT (Better, Faster, Competitive). This slogan focuses on actionable strategies (by the management and staff) to enhance the company’s performance, foster progressiveness, and enhance decision-making process.

“It is crucial to address emerging issues and deliver excellent service to customers,” said Muhtar, who was appointed as the EPIC Group CEO on April 17.

Muhtar, who has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas, automotive, commodities, port management, and logistics industries, said that he would undertake a minor restructuring exercise aimed at strengthening the company’s organisation for enhanced efficiency and resilience.

He also noted that steps are being taken to standardise policies across all subsidiary companies, ensuring that any actions or decisions taken align with the company’s requirements and directives.

“Apart from that, I aspire to strengthen the group’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. In the 2024 budget, we have allocated RM2.3 million for a range of CSR initiatives, encompassing sports sponsorships, community events, religious programmes, donations, and others.

“Within the EPIC Group itself, 84 per cent of its workforce, consisting of over 1,500 employees, hails from Terengganu. Similarly, a majority of its vendors are local companies,” said Muhtar.
