KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- The focus on efforts to eradicate hardcore poverty and the issue of people’s documentation are among the three specific recommendations made by the Sabah PKR State Leadership Council (MKN) to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.

Sabah PKR MKN in a statement today, said the council proposed that focus be given to the poverty alleviation programme so that efforts to eradicate hardcore poverty in the state can be successful.

"We also suggest that efforts to provide documentation to the people can be done in a transparent manner which of course involves strategic cooperation between the federal government and state governments and agencies," according to the statement.

In addition, they also suggested closer political cooperation between Unity component parties in preparation for the upcoming state election so that political stability can be maintained.

Sabah PKR MPN elaborated that the meeting with Anwar who is also PKR president for an hour, also discussed various issues including the development of the state, the current state of Sabah politics and the programme to boost the economy for the well-being of the people.

"Sabah PKR is committed to ensuring that the voice of the people of Sabah is heard and effective immediate action can be taken to address the challenges faced by the people of this state.

"Sabah PKR also welcomes the president's assurance that Sabah will continue to receive the attention of the federal government to ensure that the people continue to benefit from the blessings of development and unity," according to the statement.

The meeting was attended by the Sabah PKR MPN leadership including its chairman Datuk Dr Sangkar Rasam, Sabah PKR Youth and Wanita wings as well as Wanita PKR chief Fadhlina Sidek who is also the Minister of Education and PKR Information head Fahmi Fadzil who is also the Minister of Communications.

Also present were 26 Sabah PKR division heads including Kota Belud PKR division chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud who is also Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Kota Kinabalu PKR division leader Datuk Christina Liew who is also Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister.
