BANGKOK, April 10 (Bernama) -- The Embassy of Malaysia in Thailand played host to a delightful luncheon gathering, bringing together its staff and guests to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The event served as a wonderful opportunity for Malaysians to come together, rejoicing in the company of friends and family while relishing in the rich tapestry of Malaysian delicacies.

The luncheon provided a platform for attendees to indulge in the traditional delights of Hari Raya, including iconic dishes such as Nasi Tomato, Lemang, Rendang, Ayam Masak Merah, Kek Lapis Sarawak, Sambal Sotong Kembang, Kari Kambing, and various kuih raya.

Adding to the festive ambiance, guests adorned themselves in traditional attire, with gentlemen resplendent in Baju Melayu complemented by samping and songkok, while ladies graced the occasion in elegant Baju Kurung.

Notably, Malaysia’s ambassador to Thailand, Datuk Jojie Samuel, accompanied by his wife, Datin Catherina Cherian Samuel, graciously distributed "duit raya" to the young attendees, enhancing the joyous spirit of the celebration.

Speaking about the significance of the event, Jojie emphasised its role in fostering unity and camaraderie among the Malaysian community residing in Bangkok during the Hari Raya season.

"This is a potluck luncheon, where each of us will have to contribute a Malaysian dish and it is a very interesting event as it reflects Malaysia’s multi religious and multicultural country," he told Bernama today.

Indeed, Hari Raya Aidilfitri serves as a poignant reminder of the values of unity, harmony, and mutual understanding, epitomising the essence of Malaysia's multicultural identity.
