Singer Alif Satar Brings #gengsubuhmacamjumaat Campaign To Uk

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- The #GengSubuhMacamJumaat campaign, initiated by celebrity Alif Satar to promote Fajr prayers at mosques, will be extended to the Muslim community in the United Kingdom next month.

The 34-year-old actor announced that during the Alif Satar & The Locos concert tour in Sheffield and London starting from April 20, he will take the opportunity to invite Muslims to perform congregational Fajr prayers at mosques.

"It would be great if we could do it there. In Malaysia, we can attract tens of thousands of people to come, and God willing, we'll try to do the same there.

"This is very spontaneous and doesn't require much planning. Like before, I simply posted on Instagram which mosque I'll be at tomorrow, and the next day, many people showed up. That's the beauty of #GengSubuhMacamJumaat," he said, affirming his commitment to perpetuate this phenomenon indefinitely.

He said this recently when met at the iftar event and announcement of Alif as the ambassador of the gold sales company, Grand Bullion Gold Sdn Bhd, which is also the sponsor of his upcoming concert tour.

Alif added that he plans to collaborate with the Malaysian embassy in the United Kingdom to implement this initiative, which will involve activities such as jogging sessions after Fajr prayers.

He shared that one of his proudest moments was when his song Sesungguhnya Aku, a duet with popular nasyid group Raihan, was even mentioned by the London Grand Central Mosque on its social media channels.

Elaborating, Alif said this concert tour would mark their second performance in the country following their debut in 2019.

“Previously, we had a full house with 500 attendees, Alhamdulillah. We aim for a similar response for this second concert," he said, noting they will perform 15 to 20 songs, including Nasyid numbers.

Alif hopes their presence during the early days of Syawal will not only entertain but also comfort Malaysians missing their homeland.
