KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 29 (Bernama) --  Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad (Allianz General) today launched the Allianz EV Shield, a new insurance coverage for electric cars under the Private Car Comprehensive policy.

Allianz Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Sean Wang said the Allianz EV Shield is the latest insurance product in a suite of comprehensive insurance solutions and roadside assistance provided by the industry leader in motor insurance.

“With our EV Shield, our customers will be entitled to the same premium experience they have come to love. In the unfortunate event of an accident, leave it to our Road Rangers to take over.

“Our customers will not be forced to endure intimidation by touts who insist on bringing their vehicles to questionable workshops. We work hard to ensure that all the tediousness ends with an accident or breakdown,” he said in a statement today.

Furthermore, he said Allianz General also launched the Allianz EV Rangers, the first in the Klang Valley that provides on-the-spot charging enough to cover the range towards the nearest charging facility.

“Allianz General continues to define what roadside assistance means for the customer. With our latest product, we have identified common touchpoints of mishap and have designed solutions holistically. For example, if you are out of battery on the way to catch a flight, our Allianz EV Rangers will zip to you, charge your EV battery enough, and set you on your way,” he said.

He said with Allianz EV Shield, customers will benefit from the various touchpoints involving RM15,000 for losses or damages due to fire, theft and natural causes to wall boxes and RM2,000 for losses due to fire, theft and accidental causes for portable charging cables.

"If a mishap occurs while charging using a public EV charger, a compassionate cover of up to RM5,000 is afforded to the customer for the cost of repair or for medical expenses if the vehicle is damaged and the insured suffers bodily injuries. The insured is covered up to RM50,000 for third-party bodily injury and property damage caused by the insured’s direct use of an EV home wall charger,” he said.
