KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- The Guangdong Province High-Quality Development Conference 2024, held last Sunday (Feb 18), highlighted the province’s dedicated pursuit of high-quality development by reflecting its strategic priorities in the real economy, manufacturing industries as well as technological innovation.
The conference, also known as Guangdong’s “First Conference of Spring”, focused for two consecutive years on the same theme emphasised on promoting high-quality development.
New Synergy GmbH in a statement recently said Guangdong's economic landscape in 2023 witnessed remarkable growth, with its regional Gross Domestic Product (GDP) eclipsing 13 trillion yuan, besides securing its position as the nation's economic frontrunner for the 35th consecutive year.
It said the province's industrial foundation is robust, hence, solidifying its status as China's premier manufacturing hub and a pivotal global manufacturing stronghold.
“Guangdong's innovation ecosystem thrives, evidenced by its seven-year streak, leading the nation in comprehensive regional innovation capacity,” the statement read.
At the same time, the statement stated that Guangdong recognised the imperative to synergise industrial and scientific innovations amidst the global wave of scientific and technological revolutions and industrial transformations.
It said the strategic alignment was aimed at fostering a dynamic interplay between industry and technology, thus propelling the province towards sustainable and high-quality growth.
Furthermore, it said Guangdong's reputation as a hub for innovation was drawn by exceptional individuals in the scientific community as highlighted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering during their latest academician elections in Nov 2023.
“As a financial powerhouse, Guangdong has laid the groundwork for a pioneering science and technology financial service system, bolstering the high-quality development of its manufacturing sector, and reinforcing its stature as a leading province in science and technology innovation,” it said.
On another note, the statement said China has been Malaysia's largest trading partner for the past fourteen years and among all Chinese provinces and cities, Guangdong Province has the largest bilateral trade with Malaysia.
Therefore, it said Guangdong is hopeful to have deeper development in trade and technological cooperation with Malaysia, this year.
