BUKIT MERTAJAM, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- Four business premises operated by foreigners were sealed by the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) during an inspection exercise conducted in Permatang Pauh, here yesterday.
MBSP in a statement said enforcement officers from the council had carried out surveillance inthe area on several occassions and spotted the four business premises operated by foreigners without a valid licence.
“The MBSP has taken firm action by issuing two notices and two summons to the business premises and also sealed the premises for not following the proper licensing procedures,” said the statement.
MBSP also reminded business operators in Seberang Perai to always follow the proper licensing procedures to avoid enforcement action taken by the council to protect consumers.
According to the statement, any business activities carried out by foreigners without following the proper procedures is not allowed and locals who have licences are advised to not lease them to foreigners.
"MBSP will continue to carry out inspection asnd enforcement on business premises from time to time. The council will not compromise when carrying out raids,” said MBSP in the statement.
