Mdec, Bmcc Team Up To Enhance Malaysia-uk Digital Trade, Economic Cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 (Bernama) - The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has partnered with British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) to bolster digital trade and economic cooperation between Malaysia and the United Kingdom (UK). 

The partnership signifies a significant step towards enhancing the digital cooperation between the two nations, said MDEC and BMCC in a joint statement today.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) underscores the steadfast dedication of both entities to cultivate strategic alliances, promote the exchange of knowledge, and spearhead initiatives aimed at expediting digital transformation and innovation across diverse industries.

It highlighted investment promotion, talent development, market access, and establishing BMCC digital technology committee.

"It opens avenues for Malaysian expertise and fast-growing digital companies to tap into the high-growth potential markets, enabling them to expand their products and services to the UK," it said.  

MDEC chief executive officer (CEO) Mahadhir Aziz said the agency is thrilled to join forces with BMCC as it exemplifies its unwavering commitment to driving digital transformation and enriching the digital economy. 

"Together, with the Malaysia Digital Pemangkin national strategic initiative, we aim to generate significant economic spillover and foster exceptional growth, reshaping the way we work and live in Malaysia," he said. 

Meanwhile, BMCC CEO Jennifer Lopez said this partnership with MDEC, the chamber aims to facilitate closer collaboration between Malaysian and British businesses.

Besides, the collaboration would also drive mutual prosperity and growth, as well as leverage the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to maximise the benefits of international trade and investment, she said.
